Chemex coffee maker

The Chemex brand proves that coffee preparation using a hand filter is not a new invention. The American brand has been producing glass coffee carafes since 1941, which impress with their design and functionality. The goal when developing the Chemex coffee carafe was to produce a clear, aromatic coffee without bitter substances. In addition to the carafe, a suitable filter was also necessary for this. The Chemex filters inspire with special, fine-pored paper, which prevents oils and bitter substances from getting into your coffee and makes it particularly aromatic. Chemex – coffee carafes with excellent design

Why Chemex?

The American brand Chemex impresses with exceptional design and the best taste experience. In 1941, the first Chemex coffee maker was developed by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, a German chemist and coffee lover living in New York at the time. His goal was to brew the perfect cup of coffee. The result was a carafe whose modern design can be admired in the New York Museum of Modern Art. Since then, Chemex products have enjoyed great popularity among coffee lovers all over the world.

Chemex coffee accessories for your needs

If you enjoy filter coffee and making your own coffee is a regular morning ritual in your daily routine, then we recommend Chemex products. Chemex coffee carafes impress with their timeless, hourglass-shaped design and are made of heat-resistant, shatter-proof glass. For ease of use, some carafes feature a wooden collar with a genuine leather strap in the center. This can be easily removed, allowing you to clean the glass carafe in the dishwasher. Other models, however, feature a simple glass handle. To make your coffee with the Chemex, you need special filters.

Chemex paper filters are not only perfectly matched to the carafes, they also make a decisive difference in taste. The special, fine-pored paper of the filters is approximately 20-30% heavier and thicker than conventional paper filters. It traps suspended particles and prevents naturally occurring oils and fats from entering your coffee cup. This ensures that your coffee tastes particularly clear, aromatic, and not bitter. This is why brewing with the Chemex is so popular.

Buy the Chemex coffee carafe with matching paper filters and test the preparation method in your kitchen.

Brewing coffee with the Chemex

No other hand-drip method combines design and function quite like Chemex. The American brand offers a wide selection of coffee carafes and paper filters and is popular with coffee lovers around the world. It's no coincidence that the exceptional design of its glass carafes has won multiple awards and is permanently exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In addition to models with a chic wooden collar and genuine leather band in the center, you can also get models with a practical glass handle. The hourglass-shaped design allows you to insert the Chemex paper filter directly into the pot and brew your coffee exactly as you like. All you need, besides the Chemex products, is a kettle and your favorite ground coffee. As with other hand-drip methods, you can perfectly adjust the amount of water, grind, and amount of ground coffee with the Chemex coffee makers to your liking. The only difference is the filters, which ensure that your filter coffee tastes particularly aromatic rather than bitter. In addition to classic filter coffee, you can of course also prepare iced coffee and tea in the glass carafes.

So, when will you enjoy your first coffee from the Chemex?

Questions & Answers

What makes Chemex so special?

Coffee from a Chemex delights many coffee lovers around the world with its clear, aromatic coffee flavor. Your filter coffee tastes completely free of bitterness, as all bitter compounds, oils, and fats are captured by the filter. But Chemex products aren't just impressive in terms of taste; the design of the carafes is also exceptional and timeless. They are made of glass and feature the shape of an hourglass.

Which grind size should I choose for brewing with the Chemex?

As with other hand-filter methods, we recommend a medium grind for brewing with the Chemex. In addition to the grind, the amount of coffee, the brewing method, and the amount of water used are also crucial for the taste of your coffee when brewing with the Chemex coffee carafe.

How do I clean Chemex products?

After enjoying your coffee from the Chemex, you can easily clean your carafe. You can either wash it the traditional way by hand, or, in the case of models with a wooden collar, remove the collar and place the carafe in the dishwasher. The shatter-proof, robust glass easily withstands the rigors of a dishwasher.
