Why Cafec?

Buy Cafec paper filters

Cafec was launched as a brand by the Japanese company Sanyo Sangyo, founded in 1973, and was the first manufacturer to develop the conical paper filter. In addition to its core business of paper filters, the product range has been expanded over the years to include other coffee accessories. True to the company motto "Happiest smile by coffee!", Cafec's mission is to ensure that everyone can enjoy a good cup of coffee at home. The Cafec brand was born out of this passion.

What’s special about Cafec filter paper

There are some differences between the paper filters commonly available on the market. While filter paper in normal coffee filters is dried on a heated roller, so that the crepe is pressed down on one side, Cafec filter paper is dried with hot air. This ensures that the crepe is not pressed down on one side, but remains on both sides, maintaining a sufficient crepe height. The paper in Cafec coffee filters is so fine that the water can flow through evenly and quickly. With conventional paper filters, the paper is much coarser, and there is a risk that water will collect in it. This can negatively affect the taste of your coffee. With the conical Cafec paper filters, you can brew your coffee using the osmotic flow method and get the best out of your filter coffee. The fineness of the Cafec paper also allows for optimal "blooming" process. This gives you a particularly intense, aromatic taste. High-quality coffee accessories from Cafec

Cafec's goal is to offer its customers the optimal equipment for brewing filter coffee. The brand believes that good coffee makes you happy, and therefore everyone should have the opportunity to easily prepare it at home. In addition to high-quality paper filters, Cafec offers other accessories such as coffee grinders, drip pots, and hand filters.

The conical hand filters are made of ceramic and are handcrafted. The interior of the filter resembles a flower, which is why they are also called flower drippers. The "petals" create enough space between the filter and the paper, allowing for optimal brewing. According to Cafec, in addition to high-quality filter paper, a good dripper, drip pot, and coffee grinder are essential equipment for every coffee lover to brew great filter coffee at home at any time. At Captn Coffee, you'll find the excellent products from the Japanese brand Cafec. Choose your personal favorites from our diverse range and enjoy excellently brewed filter coffee in your kitchen anytime.

Questions & Answers

What are the differences between Cafec filters?

All CAFEC filter papers (except the Light Roast filters) feature "two-side crepe," meaning the paper is dried with hot air to maintain the crepe on both sides. This ensures a stable, fast water flow. Conventional filter papers are dried with a heated roller, which presses the crepe down on one side.
Traditional filters differ from abaca filters primarily in their material. Both are made from paper pulp, but abaca filters also contain a portion of abaca (Manila hemp). Abaca fibers are four times stronger than regular pulp fibers, but only half as thin. The abaca fibers give the filters good toughness and elasticity.
With the Abaca+, Cafec has launched a further development of its popular Abaca filters. Thanks to a new manufacturing method, the so-called "Fine-Grained" method, the Abaca+ filters have an even more uniform paper texture, which is said to ensure a consistent, very fast water flow.
With the Light Roast, Medium-Dark Roast, and Dark Roast filters, Cafec has developed filters specifically tailored to different coffee roasts. The various filters feature different paper densities that control the water flow and, depending on the coffee roast, give the cup a balanced, rich flavor or sweetness. The recommended water temperature for use with the filters is indicated on the packaging of each filter.

What does the name “Cafec” stand for?

The name Cafec literally stands for "Coffee Always Flares Everyone's Courage." The brand was founded to enable everyone to enjoy good coffee at home. The Japanese brand's philosophy is to bring a smile to every coffee lover's face with a well-brewed cup of coffee.

What is meant by “blooming”?

Blooming is a process for brewing filter coffee. At the beginning of the brewing process, water is added to the freshly ground coffee so that it is moistened and begins to swell. This part of the brewing process is called "blooming." Only then is the coffee brewed by pouring hot water in circles over the coffee, from the inside outward.
